Norman Fellwas well known for his portrayal of grumpy landlord Mr. Roper on the television series Three's Company. He was a character actor whose face was particularly well recognized for its exasperated expression. Fell served in World War Two before earning a college degree in drama. After additional study in New York, Fell began playing parts in plays and television. His first TV series role was in the 1956 comedy series Joe & Mabel. Fell relocated to California in the late 1950s and acted in small movie parts, including acomic role in The Graduate. He continued to act in television, playing police officer roles in several series. Fell was nominated for an Emmy forhis role in the movie Rich Man, Poor Man. His role in Three's Company made him a recognizable star and Fell won a Golden Globe Award for that role in 1979.
